Claudius was born in 1858 in Roanne (Loire) and died in 1926 in Lyon. Trained as a chemist, he was a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Louis Guy (1824-1988) known for his paintings of animals, genre scenes and landscapes. He exhibited in Lyon from 1885.
