Mahogany Cabinet, Art Nouveau - 1900

Furniture in solid and veneered Mahogany, from the beginning of the last century, which we owe to the Art Nouveau movement. It is composed in the center of a recessed space, including a mirror with bevelled edges topped with a sculpted frieze. There are also two small shelves with turbulent lines and molded edges. The sides and back are paneled with flat strips, a composition also chosen for the doors and sides of the cabinet. Below, this cabinet opens with two drawers with large bronze pull handles, as well as two doors with keyholes of the same alloy. The interior is lined with a 41 cm deep shelf placed on racks. It will be noted that this set forms an advance compared to the rest of the piece of furniture. On either side, two higher and narrower storage units contain behind their doors a total of eight shelves, partially height-adjustable and interchangeable. The fronts of the four doors of this piece of furniture benefit from a similar composition, namely Burl Mahogany Veneer with symmetrical designs applied to solid Mahogany. It is this judicious combination which allows, on the lower doors, the Sculpture of Vine Decors in the thickness of the wood. We also find on the side doors, in the upper parts, projecting pampres. It will be specified that the doors are locked and that the furniture is supplied with its three current keys. The whole rests on twelve feet, some of them connected in pairs. The interiors of the drawers as well as the back of the cabinet are in Oak. This cabinet can be dismantled into four elements. It has benefited from quality manufacturing, which it owes to "Au Confortable", a Parisian company which has affixed its stamp in one of the drawers. We will appreciate the Pretty Mahogany veining of this Modern style piece of furniture, which also offers a plurality of interesting spaces. ******** Period: 1900 Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
