"Divineress Machine 1880 - 1900 Fairground Art"
DIVINERESS MACHINE 1880 - 1900 Beautiful and very curious electric machine in wood and brass distributing prophecies. Rather light and with a handle on each side, it was to be used in the streets by a traveling fortune teller, who was paid directly since there is no coin mechanism. On each side of the front panel, an electrical contactor with 6 months of the year, January to June on the left and July to December on the right. Each month has 2 positions, i.e. 24 possible choices. Certainly the client's fortnights of birth. In the center a circle in painted glass with the 12 months of the year which must light up when the machine is working. On the left side face another electrical contactor with 3 possible positions. Inside are 2 rolls, one is empty, the other still contains its strip of paper on which the prophecies are written. This roll had to come out from the top. The wood, glass and brass exterior is very decorative and in very good original condition. The interior mechanism seems complete but does not work, it will require an overhaul. Wooden box: 59 x 25.5cm, Height 29 cm, upper part with the bell: 14.5 cm Very rare object of fairground art and divination from the end of the 19th century beginning of the 20th century
