"Vladimir Of Terlikowsky : "the Blue Parasol""
Vladimir de Terlikowski (1873-1951): "The Blue Parasol", oil on canvas 61 X 50 cm circa 1920, mounted in a reverse slope frame with red and gold motifs 65 X 76 cm. When I acquired this painting about twenty years ago, it had an accident at the bottom left, just where the signature is! I had it restored and it has been sitting near my bed ever since. But this more or less broad impasto technique is a signature in itself, characteristic of the early works of Vladimir de Terlikowski. Trace of signature. Near it, a fragment of an exhibition label with a 6 which could correspond to the 262 written on the back. Still, the diagonal composition, the mischievous smile of this young woman in the cloche hat and the multicolored Paul Poiret dress and the deep blue of this parasol make it an extremely modern and seductive work.
