Walnut wood sculpture representing a wounded lion lying on a shield with a Fleur-de-Lys embellished with a halberd, spear and shield with the Swiss cross. This sculpture was made to commemorate the officers and hundreds of soldiers of the Swiss Guards regiment who died in 1792 in the service of the King of France, Louis XVI when the revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris.
