¹Ramana Maharshi is a jñāna-yogin and Indian guru of Advaita Vedānta, born on December 30, 1879 under the name of Venkataraman Aiyer and died on April 14, 1950. His teaching, in the tradition of the non-duality, is essentially centered on the notion of the Self and the question "Who am I?" ". He is considered one of the greatest sages of traditional India. Venkataraman was born in Tiruchuli (in) near Madurai, in the south of India, in Tamil Nadu in 1879. His father was a lawyer, he died in 1892. As a child, he learned English at the school of American missionaries . At 16, in perfect health, he was seized with a deep morbid fear. Lying on the ground, he mimics his death and the state of a corpse. The shock of this experience provokes a liberation and Ramana Maharshi realizes that death concerns only his body: He then enters a deep ecstasy through the immersion of the atman in the brahman. This mystical experience transforms him and makes him understand the nature of life. He then went to a temple in Tiruvannamalai and remained almost motionless for more than 2 years, in a state of total detachment. We have to feed him so he doesn't starve. In 1899, he retired to a cave in the sacred hill of Arunachala. In 1922, he moved into the ashram run by his mother and then his brother, and attracted many people in search of the spiritual. His meeting with Pandit Ganapati Shastri marked the beginning of his public life: learning that the Swami's name was Venkataraman, he abbreviated it to "Ramana" and proclaimed that henceforth the Brahmana Swami should be known throughout the world as of “Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi”. Bhagavan meaning "divine" and Maharshi "great sage". His reputation began to go beyond the borders of the country and he then became, without having wanted or refused it, a spiritual master for many disciples. He is considered by some, such as Jean Herbert and Alexandre Astier, as one of India's greatest sages of the 20th century. Fathers Henri Le Saux and Jules Monchanin received darshan from Ramana Maharshi in 1950, shortly before his death. (source Wikipedia)
² Born on April 12, 1926, in Saint-Gérand, Alice Pasco died on July 8, 2013, in Pontivy.
It was in this city that she did her schooling, between the Joseph-Loth high school and the Jeanne-D'Arc institution. At the School of Fine Arts in Rennes, then in Paris, from 1945 to 1948, she learned the art of drawing and painting. She followed the courses of the Ducos de La Haille workshop, grand master of frescoes.
This will inspire him later in his wall decoration work. His subjects are varied: landscapes, portraits, biblical, mythological and historical scenes as well as numerous animal portraits. After having participated in many fairs: winter fair in 1947 and 1948, French artists' fair in 1950, she adds prizes and mentions. At the age of only 24, she became a member of the French Artists.
