"Head Of The Veiled Virgin In Limestone - île-de-france, Late 14th Century"
This fragmentary sculpture cut in Tonnerre limestone offers to contemplate the veiled face of the Virgin. Her youthful appearance is accentuated here by the idealized treatment of her full face, with soft and sensual features, framed by elegant wavy hair. The serenity, dignity and refinement of this face make it possible to imagine its creation by an ymagier from Île-de-France, at the end of the 14th century.
