Early Antique Thai Buddha Terracotta Buddhist Votive Stele Bhadrāsana Thailand

The Buddha shown seated on a throne in bhadrāsana, the majestic posture with two legs pendant, or the “auspicious pose.” Holding an alms bowl with both hands surrounded by attendant Bodhisattvas.
Portable terracotta votive plaques were commonly available at major Buddhist pilgrimage sites and important religious centers.
As to the date of this rare image I have consulted several of my colleagues who are specialists in this field and there appears not to be a similar published example to be found. The consensus of opinion is that it probably dates from the Dvaravati period, 7^th to 9^th Century. It is certainly of considerable age.

Condition - Good condition - A few small flaws - see photos.

Measurement - Height 19 cm
