Proof on albumen paper mounted on strong cardboard; embellished in the lower margin with an autograph signed by the sculptor Arthur Jacques Leduc: ''A Madame B*** / tribute / respectful & affectionate / [signature]''. Dry stamp of the photographer (Charles Marville) and handwritten caption in the lower margin. This photograph shows Leduc's sculpture, having obtained honorable mention at the Salon des Artistes français in 1878. The original bronze is held by the Musée d'Orsay. ''Marville is one of the first French photographers to learn photography on paper. Already around 1851, he worked as the “title photographer of the Imperial Museum of the Louvre” and reproduced sculptures and old French and Italian drawings. In 1855, Marville adopted the wet collodion process and thus obtained negatives of perfect sharpness.
