He is also called Prévost d'Exil. After a first novitiate with the Jesuits, he joined the army. He then pronounces his vows. After the publication of a first work stamped with a letter of cachet, he fled to London, where he learned English and the history of England. He then travels to Holland. Then he returned to France, where he ended his life with the Benedictines. The title "Manon Lescaut" was considered scandalous, seized and sentenced to be burned.
