Sculpture in polychrome gilded wood and gold leaf "San Giovanni Battista" - Tuscany Italy, end of the 16th centuryThe saint is represented preaching with a raised hand and having the typical attribute of the book "Geminato" held by the hand left. He wears a draped garment tied under the chest with a particular and rare incised gold gilding raised on a wooden base.
It has old worm holes throughout, some wood loss (please see photos) and shows normal signs of age and wear.
