Pair of busts representing the Brongniard children, Louise and Alexandre, after Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828). The original models were made in 1777. They are currently preserved in the Louvre; Our busts were made of Limoges porcelain biscuit and mounted on oven blue porcelain bases enhanced with gold fillets. They come from the Tharaud Goumot-Labesse factory, son-in-law of Camille Tharaud, located at 11 avenue Léon Blum in Panazol (near Limoges). Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1847) will be the director of the Sevres factory in 1800, until his death in 1847. He is the son of Théodore Brongniart (1739-1813) famous architect who designed the Brongniart palace in Paris. Théodore was friends with Antoine Houdon. Louise Brongniart (1772-1845) by her marriage she became Madame Naval de Saint-Aubin, then Marquise Picot de Dampierre (sister-in-law of General Auguste Henri Picot de Dampierre.
