"In Morocco. Automatic Shooting"
In Morocco.Automatic shooting with music. (France, circa 1905). Wooden box, size 51 x 37 x 16 cm. The front side is replaced by a chromolithographed cardboard placed slightly set back from the edge, representing an exotic setting and a North African town by the sea; a large window is open in the upper half, in this window appear Moroccan horsemen. Mechanical system music shooter. In the thickness of the box is mounted a circular disc arranged in a vertical plane, on this disc are fixed five Moroccan riders in cardboard cut out chromolithographed. The mechanism is reassembled thanks to a small key located on the rear face, the disc begins to turn and makes the riders scroll through the window, the game then consists of shooting them down using the arrow gun. The game testifies to the aims of France on Morocco at the beginning of the 20th century, perhaps it is contemporary with the crisis of Tangier in 1905? In any case, a formidable game of colonialist massacre in very good condition.
