This gilt bronze mantel clock depicts Venus, the goddess of love, beauty and sexuality, and her son Cupid. The rectangular base with plinth of the clock is supported by four round legs. This base also contains a gilded ornament showing that Venus returns the quiver and bow to Cupid. The timepiece stands on a waterfall. The detail of this waterfall and the stones is very special and shows how high the quality of this clock is. The timepiece is very large and equipped with an enamel dial signed: Minet a Paris, with Roman numerals and gold-plated hands. On top of the timepiece is Venus with a bare torso.
