She was born in Klagenfurt. Died in Graz. After graduating from university, from 1894 she attended the landscape drawing school in Graz, Austria. In 1902, she continued her studies in Munich in the Union of Women Artists and then in Landenberger. In 1903-05 she worked for a few months in Knirr and Ažbe. She then undertook study trips to Venice, Padua and in 1911 to Paris, where she attended the Modern Academy with Othon Friesz and Querin. It was probably around this time or as a result of other student travels that took her to Bulgaria, Romania and Constantinople. She then had her permanent residence in Graz, where she also worked as a teacher and was regularly exhibited at the art exhibition. In 1906, she received the silver medal from the city of Graz for the portrait of the painter E. Singer. Paungarten was particularly busy as a portrait painter and highly valued as a member of the artists' cooperative Stmk.

Condition: in very good condition; the pastelis under protective glass,white spot over head is only glass reflection.
