"Large Clock Style L.xv Terracotta Clodion Nineteenth"
Important Louis XV Rocaille style gilt bronze clock on which rests a terracotta group signed Clodion. XIXth. Total height 76cm. Movement revised and guaranteed for one year. Ringtone at the passage of hours and half-hours. Twelve o'clock advance/delay adjustment (key provided). Enameled dial with Arabic numerals, beveled protective glass, blued Breguet hands, partridge eye type. Dimensions of the clock alone, height 22 cm, width 42 cm, depth 27 cm. Large terracotta signed Clodion "The triumph of Bacchus. Terracotta edition proof, XIXth century, hollow signed on the Clodion terrace. Bacchus, crowned with vine leaves, is carried in triumph by the god Pan (represented here without sabots) next to which stands a bacchante and a putto raising a tambourine. Restorations to the putto's left leg and left arm, and to the fingers of Bacchus's right hand. The tip of a toe of the putto's right foot is missing. Photos of details on request. Height 54 cm.
