"Combination Of 5 Brass Pie Dishes. 18th Century."
Forged from a centering point, these rolled edge pies rest on 3 rolled up wrought iron feet. Rising handles, with recess, ditto. Despite its heterogeneity, this meeting nevertheless presents a unity of materials of design and geographical origin: BOURGOGNE, CHAMPAGNE, LORRAINE, with an undeniable decorative gradient effect. Remember that the meat pies were originally always topped with a domed lid, with a high rim, to receive embers. Having observed a few hundred of them in fifty years of collecting kitchen objects, we can say that very few meat pies are complete with their lids; the latter hardly supporting in the long run, the destructive effect of the embers. Diameters excluding handles: 35,30,26,22 and 19 cm. 18th century period. Very good condition.
