"Rare Cabinet In Blackened Wood And Brass, Napoleon III Period - Nineteenth"
Ceremonial cabinet richly ornamented with threaded or chiseled brass, forming arabesques, leafy friezes and other decorations of great finesse, on a blackened wooden background. This piece of furniture is designed in two parts. The upper element is crowned with a pediment, cut with projections on the front angles, and in a half-round in the middle. It is here, in the heart of a medallion, that we will appreciate the presence of fruits and pearly flowers escaping from a vase. Below, this cabinet consists of two doors, with domed central parts underlined by brass moldings. To the decorations similar to those mentioned above, birds and vegetable garlands are added here. These two openings reveal a rosewood interior, composed of a niche and two long drawers, completed by two others with subtle access. This first element, with protruding uprights also embellished, ends with two other drawers. The latter, like the doors, are provided with original locks in working order, accompanied by their keys. The lower part, forming a desk, offers a tray with turbulent edges. In the middle of brass inlays, we discover two pearly birds on branches with pink fruits. In the belt is hidden a retractable shelf with ornate pull buttons. It is lined with red leather embellished with a central vignette, corner finials and golden friezes. It should be noted that this zipper allows real use of this cabinet / desk without risking damaging its precious trappings, especially since it is completed in its headband by three drawers with animated fronts. The middle one locks, while the opening of the other two is again more enigmatic, and dependent on access to the first. This piece of furniture rests on four elegantly arched legs, with lines highlighted by edge fillets. They are decorated with acanthus leaves at the top, and finished with brass decorations feigning clogs. It should be noted that the movements and patterns in brass are present even on the sides of this piece of furniture. Note that the many decorative elements of this cabinet are an integral part of it, which contributes to making it a rare and refined property, which will undoubtedly delight lovers of prestigious furniture.
