"Important Tomb Commode In Rosewood, Louis XIV Style - Mid 20th Century"
Chest of drawers in the Louis XIV style, called "Tombeau", offering by definition generously curved lines, a curved front and potbellied sides. Its top is a dark Granite Marble with White veining, carved in Bec de Corbin around its perimeter. This ceremonial piece of furniture opens with three large drawers of varying depths, organized in three rows and assembled in "Dovetails". Their facades, just like the sides of this chest of drawers, benefit from a thick Rosewood veneer harmoniously arranged in friezes and chevrons, and feature floral marquetry in light and green tinted wood. Each of these drawers is provided in the center with a keyhole - real for the first, fictitious for the next two - and two drooping handles "aux Valets" in Bronze. The furniture is supplied with its key. The front uprights are decorated over their entire height with cut-out Bronzes ending in Sabots. The cul-de-lamp of the lower crosspiece is also embellished with a Shell with foliage motifs. The interior of the drawers is in Oak.
