TRUMPET (Joseph). [Late 19th century photographs on albumen paper depicting the central portal of Reims Cathedral]. Dimensions: 375 x 280mm. Set of two important (375 x 280 mm) matching photographs representing the rose window and the detail of the statuary adorning the central portal of Reims Cathedral. They are both the work of Joseph Trompette, a photographer from Reims, who, alongside François Rothier, brought to light the recent repair work at the time, carried out at the instigation of Viollet-le-Duc; before the cathedral suffered the horrors of the 14-18 war. Late 19th century prints (circa 1890) on albumen paper. In modern frames. Very nice condition. Very contrasting prints.
