Biography:
Eugène de Barberiis, born in 1851 in Marseille, died in Sanary in the Var, in 1937. Painters of military subjects, portrait genre scenes, landscapes. After taking courses at the Beaux Arts in Marseille, he left for Paris where he was a pupil of Detaille, Bouguereau, Tony robert fleury and Berne - Bellecour. From 1883 to 1901, he regularly participated in the Paris Salon. His search for Mediterranean light led him to paint many landscapes and seascapes in Provence. He devoted himself to Provençal painting throughout the last part of his life. Several of his works are kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille and at the Cantini Museum
