17th century French School in the entourage of Pierre Mignard (1612-1695) Portrait of elderly Louis XIV Oil on metal Miniature size: 11 x 8.5 cm Dimension with wooden frame: 13.5 x 11 cm Large size miniature and of good quality, the king appears here in Roman draped armor as painted by Pierre Mignard a few years earlier. The painter let the blue cord appear under the red drapery which is held by a precious stone (one of the crown jewels?).
