JACOB PETIT 1796-1868 After learning drawing as an autodidact, Jacob Petit entered the studio of the painter Antoine Jean-Gros, a disciple of Jacques Louis David. Early attracted to porcelain, he joined the Sèvres factory in 1822. Passionate about decorative arts, he made several trips to France and Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and England) to deepen his knowledge and perfect his technique. Jacob Petit produces a large number of decorative porcelain objects: dishes, vases, teapots, perfume bottles, incense burners, inkwells, paperweights, trinkets, clocks, interior lights, and even very beautiful fireplaces Paris porcelain plates with floral and gilding decoration.
