Pair of Henri Picard candlesticks in gilded and silvered bronze Period late 19th century signed HP under the base 2 Putti are seated against the barrel The bobèches are decorated with bunches of grapes and various fruits The base forms a cup and rests on 4 small balls In very good condition state *Henri Picard (1840-1890) Parisian bronzier According to the National Archives, the bronzier Henri Picard, founder and gilder, settled at 6, rue Jarente from 1831 to 1839 before moving to 10 rue de la Perle until in 1864. He provided decorative objects for the small apartments of Napoleon III at the Louvre. He was known for the quality of his production of table pieces and mantelpieces, in particular the combination of gilt bronze and silvered bronze. An important pair of twelve-light candelabra by Picard is kept in the Louvre Museum.
