"Haida Mask - Canada"
Polychrome wooden mask, typical of Haida work, the face with a benevolent expression. The eyes of the mask, the cheeks and the patterns on the forehead are incised in the wood and underlined with varnish pigments of different colors. The mouth is parted and pierced with a hole, and the lips are pigmented black, contrasting with the blue colored cheeks. This same color is repeated on the patterns carved on the forehead. Her eyebrows, eyes, and the design in the center of her forehead are shown through black pigmentation. On the reverse, the mask is hollowed out. We can note the exceptional quality of the mask. The varnish is a little cracked, testifying to the age of this object.
