Object description :

"Marquetry Tea Table, Louis XV Style - Early 20th Century"
Furniture composed by definition of a Small Flying Salon Table, surmounted by a second tray which is a reduction of the first. Both are made in the center of a Mahogany Veneer arranged in Butterfly Wings, bordered by a Marquetry of Violette Wood in Friesland. These two wood species are nicely separated by a double net in Ebony and Lemon. Main plate and upper shelf are fretted, and embellished on their edges with molds. The belt of this Table is made up of Modestly Moved rails. The intermediate uprights, in solid Mahogany, are Curved and Concave, and they are extended by four Molded and Elegantly Curved legs. This Table benefits from an Ornamentation in Gilded and Chiselled Bronzes, such as Falls of Angles, Cul-de-Lampe and Double Sabots. In addition, two Openworked and Crafted handles are fixed on the Brass rod of the largest of the trays. Initially intended to receive the utensils essential for serving tea – such as cups, saucers or milk jug – this Coffee Table can of course be diverted from its original function, in particular due to its Small Dimensions and its Lightness. Moreover, this Sideboard is most certainly the result of the work of a Great Parisian Cabinetmaker, and reminds us of Sormani's Furniture. It will therefore also be appreciated for its Quality and Finesse, characteristics found in the Italian's creations.
