"Regency Period Office Armchair Stamped Claude Louis Burgat (1717-1782)"
French work, Regency period Caned office armchair from the Regency period, with Queen-style backrests, in molded walnut wood and carved with acanthus leaves on the ends of the 4 feet, flowers and foliage on the front belt crosspiece , on the upper crosspiece of the backrest and on the shoulder of the front legs. Seat in brown sheepskin redone by us, stamped by the master cabinetmaker Claude Louis Burgat. Entirely period having undergone no restoration, stamp under the front crosspiece. Claude Louis Burgat (1717 - before 1782), was received master in 1744. Installed rue de Cléry then rue Feydeau, he is especially famous for his Louis XV chairs. Virtually all of its production is of high quality. The sculpture of its seats is deep and incisive, just like the moldings, which accentuate the powerful and supple lines. We find some of its offices in Paris, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée Carnavalet, as well as at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
