Suite Of Four Louis XV Chairs, 18th Century, Circa 1740.

Suite of four Parisian chairs from the early Louis XV period in moulded, carved and waxed beech wood with a cane bottom. Flat violin backrest says to the queen, seat as wide as it is hospitable, voluble belt resting on a base without spacer with inverted arch. The whole is traversed by a wide and deep molding punctuated with bold acanthus foliage. The great particularity of this pair of chairs lies in the perfect harmony between fine rocaille sculptures such as cartels, cartridges and staples gracefully cohabiting with exploded pomegranates, candles and other flower buds of the new emerging taste, around 1740. We will notice on their backs , the wooden plates which were used to seal the cavities; once the cane is in place. Each is equipped with its tile sheathed in old cognac leather.
