"Els Amman :"two Characters""
Els Amman (1931-1978): "Two characters", mixed technique on bristol 59.5 X 32.7 cm, fixed on a white background 65 X 50 cm, the framing background showing significant wetting having been fortunately preserved with all its indications. She had an abundant work despite her short life. Highly sought after by Dutch amateurs for its dreamlike universe translated into a technique of its own: printing inks spread with small rollers and abundantly enhanced with a brush describing a colorful world populated by strange beings who are sometimes reminiscent of Marc Chagall. A pupil of Paul Citroën in The Hague, she later settled in Groningen where she produced most of her work. We have here a characteristic example of his poetic work which has obviously been exhibited, bearing a label in Dutch dating it from 1976.
