"Pair Of Louis XVI Style Commodes In Inlaid Wood And Gilt Bronze"
Pair of Louis XVI style support consoles in inlaid rosewood and gilded bronzes. It opens on the front with a door leaf adorned with an oval medallion forming a wreath of flowers held in place by a ribbon and finished with trophies of quivers and flaming torches, in which is inscribed a patinated bronze representing a couple of birds. A drawer is located at the belt with a handle in the shape of a crown of roses and laurel branches. The whole is decorated with friezes of ovals, rolled up ribbons, meanders, pearls and acanthus leaves. The front uprights are fluted with asparagus in gilded bronze. It is surmounted by a white marble top. The interior is made of light wood veneer. One of the two pieces of furniture stamped "GROHE cabinetmaker in Paris" below the marble.
