"Kadjar Tray, Persia, Tinned Copper XIXe/xxe"
Large Kadjar circular tray, polylobed in tinned copper, from the late 19th century or begining 20th. Decorated with large concentric friezes enclosing a ceremonial scene specific to Persian history. The Kadjar or Kadjar dynasty is a Turkmen dynasty that reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925. The diameter of this tray is 38 cm for a weight of 1073 g. The finesse of the carvings show the dexterity of Persian engravers. A clip on the back allows the tray to be hung on the wall. These marvelous tinned coppers, were under the Safavid or Kadjar dynasties, an eminent alternative to silver and they enjoyed the same status. These objects certainly lived on as the centerpieces of Persian homes. In good general condition.
