"Oil On Cardboard : Dusk At The Water's Edge By H .j . Delpy."
A lot of tranquility in this twilight scene on the banks of the Seine or the Oise, just animated by a fishing boat. Henry Jacques Delpy, whose favorite theme is that of waterscapes, brings us here with great sensitivity, an impression of silence and fluidity. A very refined view that plays on the reflection of the trees but also by a subtle palette of bold colors and a few touches of bright colors scattered in the bushes. Son and pupil of Hippolyte Camille Delpy (1842-1910), Henry Jacques Delpy (Bois le roi 1877 - Paris 1957) will be part of the Barbizon school, and will be a member of the salon of French artists and that of independents. Oil on cardboard circa 1910. No restoration or repainting. French School and Barbizon. Contemporary oak frame: 69 cm x 58 cm. Table: 47.5 cm x 36 cm.
