The sculpture depicts the Dainichi Buddha (Japanese: Dainichi Nyorai, Sanskrit: Mahāvairocana) or "Great Sun" Buddha. The Buddha is seated in the lotus position on a traditional tiered base, with lotus leaves at its top. A headband is placed on his head, his hands are arranged in the gesture of the "six elements" or mudra "Chiken-in". This gesture symbolizes the unity of the five elements - earth, water, fire, air/wind and space/void - with the spirit (consciousness). Polychrome wood, gilded with scales. Height 34 cm, width 27 cm, depth 22.5 cm. State of conservation presented in the photos, quite good, rubbing and loss of polychromy, a finger of the left hand and the crown are missing.
