"Knoll Oval Table 1970"
Side table from the 1970s signed Knoll (original label and hollow mark in the cast iron) model designed by Eero SAARINEN (1910-1961) with an oval shape with a richly veined marble top resting on a cast iron tulip foot of aluminum lacquered in white rilsan. Good used condition. Dimensions: 55 cm long X 50 cm high X 38 cm deep. When designer Eero Saarinen designs this table with a single central base, it's a revolution. Available in seven sizes, the table was edited from its creation by Florence Knoll, one of the greatest design entrepreneur of the time, who thus largely contributed to its success. Saarinen studied sculpture in Paris and architecture at Yale before beginning to design furniture in collaboration with Norman Bel Geddes and practice architecture with his father. He participated in several furniture design projects with his friend and former student at Cranbrook, Charles Eames, then opened his own office in Bloomfield Hills in 1950. Among the achievements that made him famous: Dulles International Airport in Washington DC; the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri; and the TWA terminal at Kennedy International Airport, New York. He is the winner of several prizes and participates in numerous exhibitions.
