Object description :

"Rare Russian Cloisonne Dagger"
It is a rare Russian dagger, collected in Saint Petersburg during the "Perestroika" era.
BLADE: This is an extremely hard steel blade. It is single-edged. The back is guilloche.
Length of the blade 21 cm, width at the heel = 2.9 cm Thickness about 2.5 mm
HILT : it is very elegant and has at its end the "bird's head" shape found on shashkas. This shape gives a remarkable efficiency to the hand grip.
The work in cloisonné enamels is typically Russian.
Note 3 very small holes on the central bronze part of the handle, between the partitioned plates. Originally, they were probably set with precious stones.
The handle is particularly heavy, as on combat knives, to give strength to the blow struck at an opponent.
No doubt to have, when you take the object in hand, it is a real weapon and not a simple decorative letter opener.
This testimony from Imperial Russia is particularly rare and of high quality.
It appeared on the market like a number of art objects, during the troubled period of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
