"Art Deco, Wrought Iron Firewall Stamped Szabo"
Rare wrought iron and steel firewall with openwork decoration of ringed circles, stylized leaves and four gilt leaf lizards. The upper part includes four balls and the base is overflowing. Assembly by screwing. Stamped Szabo, lower left. Period 1925/30 Length: 74 cm Height: 61 cm Depth: 6 cm Very nice collector's item of exceptional quality. Adalbert, Georges Szabo (1877-1961) was born in Hungary. He is considered among the greats of French ironwork where he arrived in the early years of the 20th century. Szabo has produced a number of objects or installations including glass. He followed the same path as Brandt, Subes, Kiss or Schenck. These pieces remain artisanal and of high quality. There are few on the market because of its small production. He is the author in Paris in 1913 of the famous gate and the elements of the vestibule of 65-67, Bld Raspail with the architect Léon Tissier. He works mainly in several French cities but nevertheless presents at the Salon of French Artists in Paris in 1923 works made for the Summer Palace in Algiers. He also created the monumental clock for the façade of Le Temps rue des Italiens.
