Post Mortem Casting? : Plaster Infant Head. Modeled Portrait, 19th - 20th Century. Sculpture flag

Object description :

"Post Mortem Casting? : Plaster Infant Head. Modeled Portrait, 19th - 20th Century. Sculpture"
Charming child's head in plaster.

It may be a post mortem cast of a child. These casts were made to keep the memory of a loved one, the best known being Napoleon's death mask. This face is very well done, the details are fine, the child's cheeks are full, the eyes closed, the mouth serene.

I did not find any mark or signature.

16.5cm tall

1.8kg

Good condition. A small loss / chafing on the right cheek. A few pencil strokes on the top of the skull. Molding friction and bubbles.
