"Saint-jean-de-luz"
Rare and beautiful watercolor signed by Charles Ogier (1856-1897), representing a view of the road to Ahètze, near Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in 1890. Born in Nantes in 1856, Charles Ogier was trained in this same city at the school of drawing of the painter Victor Guerry. He began at the Salon in 1880, but his career as an artist was unfortunately short-lived, since he died at the age of 41 in 1897. Mainly a landscape painter, he left many high-quality works, in particular views of the Basque country.
