This memento mori or vanitas represents a skull resting on two crossed shins. We are in a performance reminiscent of the catacombs in which the bones were sometimes staged theatrically. This bronze probably comes from an allegorical monument of death.
Large bronzes on this theme are very rare. This one is life-size of a small person.
A quality base in red velvet on wood was attached to it without fixing, leaving another presentation possible.
