The work of Pedro de Raxis (Alcalá La Real, 1555 - Granada 1626), is divided between different pictorial techniques. Of Italian training due to his Sardinian family origin, dedicated to painting and sculpture, it is worth mentioning the figure of his uncle Pablo de Rojas, an essential figure of Baroque sculpture in Spain, with whom he would collaborate extraordinarily as a gilder and polychrome artist. . His activity extends fundamentally to the Andalusian territory, creating a complex workshop from which the author of this painting, dating from the end of the 16th century, could emerge. The influence of the Raxis workshop spread rapidly throughout the south of Spain.
The intense, luminous colors..., the delicate composition and the position of the characters tell us of a painting closer to Mannerist influences.
