Calixtus III bronze medal, restitution by Girolamo Paladino, 17th century
This medal depicts on the obverse a left-sided in profile bust of the pope Calixtus III (1455-58) wearing a mitre and an embroidered chasuble on the shoulders. On the edge : '' CALIXTUS • III • • PONT • MAX • '' (Calixtus III Supreme Pontiff).
On the reverse, on an islet surrounded by waves, a cross topped by papal tiara under sun rays. In the background, two ships and a mountainous landscape. On the edge : '' OMNES • REGES SERVIENT • EI '' (All the kings will serve him).
Excellent condition, copperish brown patina.
