On the obverse, a crowned Madonna and Child stands on the Holy House of Loreto resting on a skiff sailing on the sea. According to Tradition, the House of Loreto, brought back from the Holy Land at crusades era, would be the house where Mary received Annunciation from the archangel Gabriel. On the edge : '' LAVR ETA• '' for Virgo Lavretana (Virgin of Loreto).
On the obverse, a left-sided in profile bust of Saint Charles Borromeo wearing cardinal outfits. On the edge : '' S • CAROLUS • BOR • CARD • ARC • M • '' for Sanctus Carolus Borromeus Cardinalis Archiepiscopus Mediolani (Saint Charles Borromeo Cardinal Archbishop of Milan).
