"Provençal Mirror In Golden Wood Eighteenth Century"
Large 18th century mirror from the Louis XV period (dimensions 1 m 32 high X 83 cm wide) Provençal work from the Beaucaire region with an elegant structure in solid wood delicately carved and gilded with gold leaf with an architectural shape with rich rockery decor with vine branches. The upper part is embellished with a pediment decorated with a leafy and flowery bouquet of three Heliotrope flowers {this flower called the sun or sunflower follows the evolutions of the star every day, subject to its good will, it symbolized the loyalty of the people to King Louis XIV baptized the Sun King} The lower part ends with feet formed by acanthus leaves. Original mercury mirror in very satisfactory condition with some usual traces of faded color. Good general condition and very beautiful leaf gilding.
