"Angelic Sconce Consoles"
Charming pair of carved wooden cherub wall brackets, 19th century, Alpine region, (Switzerland, Austria?). Each console is supported by an angel, screwed to its head, it remains pivoting, a metal suspension ring on the back. Dimensions of a console: 29 cm at the longest at the back and 15 cm at the widest. The angels are not physically identical but form a real pair, they respond to each other, arms raised, bodies swaying and seem to be dancing. One little finger missing from each as indicated by an arrow in a detail photo. These angels are carved from a single piece of wood (except the wings), probably pine wood, a resinous wood, soft and easy to work, appreciated in cabinetmaking, mainly from the Alpine arc. The whole remains solid and light at the same time. Note: the quality of the well-proportioned sculpture, a beautiful patina. Delivery: 20€ for metropolitan France. Price nonnegotiable.
