The masterly Empire portrait of the young French woman Adèle, due to the original inscription of memory of her husband, written in French on the reverse of the painting, was painted by the author in 1803, the year of the birth of their daughter . The author of this painting classicist painter Henri Nicolas van Gorp or Vangorp (1756 - after 1819) was a famous portraitist and miniaturist in Paris between the 18th and 19th centuries, he studied by Boilly, from 1793 to 1819 regularly exhibited his works at the Salon from Paris . His portraits, miniatures were repeatedly engraved by Ph.L.Debucourt, Ruotte, Masquelier and Launay. His works kept at the Museum of Rouen and the Museum of St.Omer
