Small Chest Of Drawers In Precious Wood, Stamped

Marquetry chest of drawers bearing the signature of Léonard Boudin (1735 – 1807), renowned Parisian cabinetmaker, who went from simple worker to haberdasher, to become at the end of his life an essential merchant in his hometown. The craftsman-merchant who obtained his master's degree in 1761, shortly after opened his first workshop in the French capital, rue Traversière. This piece of furniture opens with six drawers of the same dimensions, separated by dust covers. Each of them is provided with an original bronze rockery handle, with integrated keyhole. The latter, functional, are all accompanied by their adjusted keys. The fronts of these drawers are made of rosewood marquetry, lemon tree fillets and kingwood frames, an arrangement repeated on the sides and the chamfered uprights of this piece of furniture. Authentic Aleppo breccia marble, 3.3 cm thick, and molded in corbin's beak, covers the top of this chest of drawers. The set rests on four small legs with a discreet curve, with rosewood edges for those at the front. The drawer interiors as well as the back of the cabinet are in oak. A stamp of Boudin is unanimously recognized as being a guarantee of quality and excellent workmanship. We will appreciate the harmonious proportions of this chest of drawers, as well as the delicacy of its design, qualities specific to the creations of this tasteful cabinetmaker – interior decorator.
