French school of the end of the 18th century Pen and wash on paper Unsigned 11 x 18 cm (30.5 x 35 cm with the frame) This drawing denounces the horrors of the Revolution, more precisely visibly the exactions in the countryside during the regime of Terror. A fire on the right, a hanged man on the left and in the center an allegory of the Revolution with a large Phrygian cap and three characters, perhaps representing the various political forces present.
