"Louis XVI Colored Gold Drageoir"
Round box in composition in imitation of marble. It has a rich rose gold setting on its sides. It is decorated with a gouache on vellum representing a bouquet of flowers in a basket on a marble entablature. The colors are very fresh, and the painting of great mastery is close to the works of Gérard Van Spaendonck. This painter, born in 1746 and deceased in 1822, was highly appreciated for his paintings of still lifes with flowers and contributed to decorating a good number of snuffboxes under Louis XVI.
