Object description :

"Emil-benediktoff Hirschfeld, Moon Effect On The Sea"
Emil Benediktoff-Hirschfeld (Odessa, 1867 - Concarneau, 1922)

Student of William Bougereau and member of the Académie Julian, he was one of the fervent representatives of the Concarneau school. He was the husband of Emmy Leuze-Hirschfeld, also a painter. His works focuses on evening lights and the elements, evoking a melancholic and unruly Brittany.

Signed lower right with an inscription: "To Mr and Mrs Legoût Gerard, fond memories". Fernand Legoût-Gerard, a major figure in the Concarneau school, was a great friend of the couple. This annotation testifies to an intimate work, and its presence in the artist's collection.

38 cm x 53 cm at sight, original frame.
