Large cassolette or centerpiece in black marble and gilt bronze. 1st part of the 20th century. Base with 3 straight sides and adorned with a molding in a frieze of palmettes. Cup in deep black veined “golden” marble (rare) of the Portor type, used in luxury furniture (Château de Versailles) adorned, on the neck, with a molding in alternate position, foliated, in gilded bronze. Domed lid in black veined marble ending in a rosette surmounted by a fretel of clusters of berries in its bud in gilded bronze. The removable lid can be used this casserole in a planter. Base on the principle of a 3-legged Atlas-shaped Athenian, carrying the basin like the world and resting in the lower part on 3 hooves in the form of greenhouses (claws) enclosing 3 globes placed on the base. The tripod and the cup are adorned with 3 swans with outstretched wings extending 3 feet adorned with a pearl. Slight traces of wear to the gilding on the top of the wings (insignificant) Overall in very good condition.
